A prayer for Peace
Heavenly Father, You are the God who speaks peace to the raging seas and commands the winds to be still. As Your Son Jesus calmed the storm with the words “Peace, be still,”
By Bishop Jerry Peña, God’s anointed servant
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”
Spiritual battles cannot be fought with human wisdom, fleshly strength, or worldly tactics. God has equipped His children with spiritual weapons that carry divine power. Let us examine these weapons and see how they apply to our daily walk and victories in Christ.
Scripture: “Take…the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (Ephesians 6:17).
God’s Word is our primary offensive weapon. When Jesus faced Satan in the wilderness, He overcame every temptation by declaring, “It is written” (Matthew 4:4, 7, 10). The Word of God pierces lies, defeats deception, and establishes truth.
Application: Speak God’s Word over your situation. When fear arises, declare Psalm 27:1 – “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?” When lack threatens, proclaim Philippians 4:19 – “My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
Scripture: “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16).
Prayer is a lifeline of power. Elijah prayed, and fire fell (1 Kings 18:36–38). Hannah prayed, and her barrenness was turned into fruitfulness (1 Samuel 1:10–20). Prayer not only changes circumstances but aligns our hearts with God’s will.
Application: Develop a lifestyle of prayer. Don’t just pray in emergencies—pray daily. Use prayer to invite heaven’s intervention into earthly struggles, interceding for your family, your church, and your community.
Scripture: “This kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting” (Matthew 17:21).Fasting humbles the flesh so the spirit may rise in strength. Ezra fasted for protection (Ezra 8:21), Daniel fasted for revelation (Daniel 10:2–3, 12), and Jesus fasted to begin His ministry (Matthew 4:2).
Application: Combine fasting with prayer when facing major decisions, spiritual oppression, or when seeking breakthrough. Even a one-day fast can renew your clarity and dependence on God.
Scripture: “Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one” (Ephesians 6:16).
Faith trusts in God’s promises despite what the eyes see. By faith, the walls of Jericho fell (Hebrews 11:30). By faith, Abraham received his promised son. Faith deflects Satan’s lies, doubt, and fear.
Application: Strengthen your faith by hearing God’s Word (Romans 10:17). Refuse to agree with doubt. Declare, “I walk by faith and not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7) when the enemy whispers discouragement.
Scripture: “But You are holy, enthroned in the praises of Israel” (Psalm 22:3).
Worship shifts the atmosphere. When Jehoshaphat’s army worshiped, God set ambushes against their enemies (2 Chronicles 20:22). Worship isn’t just singing—it is surrendering our hearts in adoration, inviting God’s throne into our situation.
Application: In trials, worship. In fear, worship. Play worship music in your home, lift your hands, and declare God’s greatness. Watch how His peace displaces your heaviness.
Scripture: “At midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God…and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed” (Acts 16:25–26).
Praise confuses the enemy. Praise declares God’s victory before the battle is even won. It turns prison cells into places of freedom.
Application: Instead of complaining, choose praise. Thank God aloud for what He has done and what He will do. Praise turns your valley into a platform of triumph.
Scripture: “Lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices” (2 Corinthians 2:11).
To fight effectively, we must discern the enemy’s schemes. Satan tempts through deception, fear, discouragement, and pride. Knowing his patterns helps us resist them with the Word and Spirit.
Application: Be watchful. Recognize when discouragement is spiritual, when temptation is a snare, and when division is the enemy’s work. Don’t fear the enemy, but stay alert, clothed in the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10–18).
The weapons of our warfare are spiritual, mighty, and victorious. When we wield the Word, live in prayer, discipline ourselves with fasting, shield ourselves with faith, enthrone God with worship, lift high His praise, and stay alert to the enemy’s tactics, we walk in triumph through Christ.
Beloved, don’t go into battle unarmed. Pick up your sword, lift your shield, bend your knees in prayer, and let praise be on your lips. But all these weapons will be useless without application. We will never benefit from something we don’t use. Remember, “In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37).
Victory against the enemy cannot be won by human efforts and intelligence. Spiritual battle must be dealt with spiritual weapons.

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”

Father, I ask that You align my steps with Your perfect will. Your Word says, “The steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord” (Psalm 37:23). Order my thoughts, decisions, relationships, opportunities, and desires according to Your plan. Remove every distraction, delay, or detour that tries to pull me off the path of destiny.
