let us lay aside every hindrance
🔥Here are common hindrances that can block or weaken a believer’s daily faith-building habits—along with practical ways to avoid them:
  1. Busyness and Distractions

  • Hindrance: A packed schedule, social media, TV, or constant notifications can consume your focus.
  • Avoidance Tip:
    • Set a fixed quiet time each day with no devices or interruptions.
    • Start with just 15–20 mins if your schedule is tight.
    • Put your phone on silent or in another room during devotions.
  1. Spiritual Laziness or Apathy

  • Hindrance: Lack of desire or discipline to pray, read, or seek God.
  • Avoidance Tip:
    • Ask the Holy Spirit to reignite your hunger.
    • Remind yourself of why you’re doing it—it’s about relationship, not ritual.
    • Create a checklist or tracker to build consistency.
  1. Sin and Unrepented Behavior

  • Hindrance: Known sin dulls spiritual sensitivity and hinders intimacy with God (Isaiah 59:2).
  • Avoidance Tip:
    • Confess and repent daily.
    • Stay accountable to a mature believer or mentor.
    • Allow God to search your heart (Psalm 139:23–24).
  1. Unbelief or Doubt

  • Hindrance: If you doubt God’s Word or His willingness to speak to you, it will weaken your pursuit.
  • Avoidance Tip:
    • Meditate on God’s promises regularly.
    • Speak Scripture aloud to build faith (Romans 10:17).
    • Surround yourself with testimonies and faith-filled environments.
  1. Negative Company or Worldly Influence

  • Hindrance: Being around people who mock faith or promote worldly values can drain spiritual energy.
  • Avoidance Tip:
    • Limit time with toxic influences.
    • Surround yourself with faith-filled friends, groups, or mentors.
    • Be intentional about what you watch, listen to, or follow.
  1. Perfectionism or Guilt

  • Hindrance: Feeling like you must do everything perfectly—or giving up when you miss a day.
  • Avoidance Tip:
    • God wants relationship, not performance.
    • If you miss a day, simply begin again—don’t condemn yourself (Romans 8:1).
    • Celebrate progress, not perfection.
  1. Spiritual Attack or Resistance

  • Hindrance: The enemy will resist any activity that strengthens your spirit.
  • Avoidance Tip:
    • Be aware but not afraid—resist him and he will flee (James 4:7).
    • Pray for strength and wear the armor of God daily (Ephesians 6:10–18).
    • Stand firm and don’t give up.
  1. Lack of Planning or Structure

  • Hindrance: No plan leads to inconsistency and discouragement.
  • Avoidance Tip:
    • Use a Bible reading plan, journal template, or faith routine guide.
  • Set reminders and prepare your space ahead of time.
Heavenly Father,

I come before You carrying many burdens — fears, doubts, and habits that keep me from trusting You fully. I confess that I have tried to walk this road alone, holding on to things I should have surrendered to You long ago.

Today, Lord Jesus, I choose to lay down every weight that blocks my faith. Teach me to walk closely with You — not in my own strength but in the power of Your Spirit.

Burn away every hindrance that weakens my faith: unbelief, pride, worry, and distractions of this world. Purify my heart and renew my mind so that my faith may grow stronger each day.

Lord, I release my baggage to You.
Help me to travel light, to trust deeply, and to rest completely in Your promises. Let my habits reflect heaven’s priorities and my heart remain steadfast in Your Word.

In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.

Call to  Action

Are there things silently blocking your faith from growing stronger? It’s time to let them go.
Take a moment to reflect and ask: “What burdens am I still carrying that belong at the cross?”

Take Action: Write down what’s been holding you back and surrender it in prayer. Exchange your baggage for His peace.

Grace-Centered vs. Law-Based Preaching

We preach “do this and live” when the gospel declares “live, and you will do this.” We exhort congregations to try harder when Scripture reveals they need to trust deeper. The result? Exhausted believers, frustrated pastors, and churches that look more like rehabilitation centers than resurrection communities.
