Preparing for these last days

 Introduction:

We are living in days that the Bible describes as perilous (2 Timothy 3:1–5). The signs of the times are all around us—wars, deception, immorality, selfishness, and the love of many growing cold. The Lord has warned us that His coming will be sudden, like a thief in the night (1 Thessalonians 5:2). The real question is: are we prepared?

Preparation in these last days is not about fear but about readiness—living faithfully, walking in holiness, and aligning our lives with God’s will. Jesus did not leave us in the dark; He gave us steps and instructions to follow so that we may endure to the end.

  1. Key Scriptures on Preparation
  • Matthew 25:1–13 – The parable of the ten virgins reminds us that lamps without oil will not shine. Only those who were prepared with oil entered the wedding feast.
  • Luke 21:34–36 – Jesus warns us not to let our hearts be weighed down with the cares of this life but to stay watchful and prayerful.
  • 1 Peter 1:13–16 – We are called to be sober-minded and holy in all our conduct.
  • Hebrews 12:1–2 – To run with endurance, we must lay aside every weight and sin, fixing our eyes on Jesus.
Steps to Be Prepared

1. Stay Filled with the Holy Spirit

Just as oil kept the lamps burning in Matthew 25, the Holy Spirit keeps our faith alive.

  • Ephesians 5:18 – “Be filled with the Spirit.”
  • Daily prayer, worship, and time in God’s presence keep our lamps burning.

2. Guard Your Heart and Mind

  • Proverbs 4:23 – “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
In these last days, deception is rampant. We must guard against false teachings, compromise, and the spirit of the age.

3. Live by the Word of God

  • Matthew 4:4 – “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
Commit to daily Bible study. Don’t settle for spiritual crumbs—feast on the full counsel of God’s Word.

4. Walk in Holiness and Repentance

  • Hebrews 12:14 – “Without holiness, no one will see the Lord.”
Repent quickly when you stumble. Keep short accounts with God and live in purity.

5. Stay Watchful in Prayer

  • Colossians 4:2 – “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”
Prayer keeps us awake spiritually. It sharpens our discernment and strengthens us to endure trials.

6. Love and Encourage One Another

  • Hebrews 10:24–25 – “Let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Isolation is dangerous in these last days. Stay connected with true believers who strengthen your faith.

7. Keep Your Eyes on Eternity

  • Colossians 3:2 – “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
Don’t be distracted by temporary gains. Live with eternity in view, knowing that everything will be tested by fire (1 Corinthians 3:13).
Conclusion

Being prepared in these last days is not optional—it is vital. Jesus is coming for a bride who is ready, watchful, and filled with oil. We must remain vigilant, holy, and steadfast, keeping our eyes on Him.

Let us not be like the foolish virgins who were unprepared, but like the wise who kept their lamps burning. The door will soon be shut. Now is the time to prepare.

“So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect Him.” — Matthew 24:44

Prophetic Encouragement for Preparation

Beloved, the Spirit of the Lord is saying: “Wake up and prepare, for the hour is late and the Bridegroom is at the door.” The days are growing darker, but the light of Christ in you must shine brighter. Do not be caught unaware or distracted by the noise of the world. The enemy desires to lull many into spiritual slumber, but the Lord is calling His people to rise in watchfulness.

🕊️“Be dressed in readiness, and keep your lamps lit.” — Luke 12:35

The Spirit of the Lord urges us not to live carelessly but with urgency. This is not a time for lukewarmness, but a time to be fully awake. Just as Noah prepared the ark before the rain came, so must we prepare our hearts before the trumpet sounds.

Amen!

Chapter 1: Jesus — The Praying Son of God

Jesus did not choose His twelve apostles through a committee meeting. He did not take a vote. He did not consult earthly advisors. He spent the entire night in prayer before making the most significant leadership decision of His earthly ministry.
“In those days Jesus went out to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to God
